Welcome home

Now what is hiding in there ? Hmmmm? Came from Germany and arrived in Japan some days ago - an early Christmas present??

Let's have a look (click on a photo to see it larger).

Aha, not only Pilot has its 100th anniversary this year.
Like a mirror

OK OK, I admit, I bought the 100th anniversary fountain pen of Waldmann (Germany) - I just couldn't resist.

Some details: the ink

The ink

And here it is: The pen!

I wanted to make some photos as long as it is in pristine condition. Silver is extremely sensitive, use it once and it has micro-scratches.
The advantage of silver is that in summer it feels cool and in winter it feels warm.
This will be no collection pen - it will be used and soon it will have many scratches. Tant pis! A fountain pen is made for writing.

The Waldmann anniversary pen - I am now the owner of 66g silver.

A comparison with the LE's sibling - the Waldmann Manager (upper pen). Both are piston fillers.

"Where did the pens move to", I asked Waldmann. I was told that these pens reside now in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, and USA. My best regards to the 90+ other owners - 宜しくお願いします.

p.s. I had already reported earlier about this pen when I didn't know that some months later one would be mine. Link

Silver pens

Just be cautious to know the difference between the different silver types if you buy a silver pen - I use some lines from Wikipedia - do not claim I could say it better.   Real silver Fine silver  is 99.9% pure silver. Argentium silver  (patented in 1998) is a brand of modern tarnish-resistant silver alloys, containing either 93.5%, 94% or 96% silver. Argentium alloys replace some of the copper in the traditional sterling silver (92.5% silver + 7.5% copper) with the metalloid germanium. Argentium 935, Argentium 940 and Argentium 960 alloys exceed the standard required for hallmarking as sterling silver, and Argentium 960 silver meets the standard for hallmarking as Britannia silver (95.84% silver). Silvadium, Sterlium  is 93% silver, and other metals Sterling silver  is an alloy composed by weight of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.   and then there i...

"Gemini pens"

It's play time. I asked Gemini to create some fountain pens. Unfortunately, Gemini still has some problems in creating a fountain pen. I am still working on how to make reliably such a pen with Gemini. The problem could be with my prompts or it could be on the Gemini side. Nevertheless - enjoy!
